70Who can resist the magical aroma of an espresso served in a coffee shop? Would you like to enjoy the same espresso in the comfort of your home?

The term espresso refers to the brewing method used to make the coffee. Espresso is basically coffee made by forcing hot water under high pressure through roasted coffee that has been grounded to an extremely fine powder.
All of the flavours and chemicals are concentrated as a result of the high-pressure. This results in having a beverage that produces a rich, flavorful, and almost syrupy beverage.
An Espresso is a straight, one-ounce measure of coffee generally known as a shot, is one of the most complicated coffee beverages to make. It is for the espresso that the baristas became famous.
The Moka Express
The Moka is a little aluminum stovetop espresso maker with no moving parts, no pump, no electronic gizmos. You just fill, brew and pour.
The Moka was invented by Italian Alfonso Bialetti in 1933 and his company continues to market the leading model, the Moka Express.
Could this small Italian pot really brew an espresso comparable to the professional high-pressure espresso machines? You can bet on it.
Although obviously isn't quite the same product the taste and extraction process are very similar.
Espresso, Cappuccino And The Moka Express
Espresso
Espresso is a concentrated coffee beverage brewed by forcing steam or hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee.
Cappuccino
Cappuccino is a coffee-based drink prepared with 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, and 1/3 frothed milk.
Moka Express
Moka Express produce an espresso with an extraction ratio similar to that of a conventional espresso machine. You can use this espresso as a cappuccino base.
How Does The Moka Work?
The Moka is made out of three parts:
- The bottom chamber that contains the water
- The middle chamber is a funnel-shaped metal filter that holds the ground coffee
- The top chamber where the coffee is collected.
The water is brought close to boiling point by placing the pot on a heat source. The steam created in the bottom chamber reaches a pressure enough to force the boiling water up the funnel through the coffee.
Then the lower chamber is almost empty, the characteristic gurgling noise is produced by steam bubbles mixing with the water.
The result is brew very similar to espresso in taste but less concentrated. The espresso that the Moka make is incredibly smooth, and without bitter taste. What you get is that creamy, rich espresso like you find in a coffee shop.
Perfect Brew Every Time
Follow these tips to enjoy real espresso type coffee:
- Fill the bottom chamber to a little below the safety valve (or it will explode)
- Use drinking water. Avoid tap water especially if very chlorinated
- Use a finely ground good coffee and put in the container but don't overfill
- Never compress the coffee
- Put on medium heat or low heat
- Do not let the coffee boil, as soon as coffee reaches the top, remove from heat
Dispose of the first 2 or 3 batches of coffee before first use to prevent any aluminum flavor. The more coffee you make the better it tastes as the aluminum gets covered with a thin oily coating from the coffee.

The 6-cup version of the Moka Express

How To Froth Milk With The TuttoCrema
- Fill it about a third of the way with cold whole milk for a large sized cup (or two smalls)
- Set on a burner, with medium heat, and pump somewhat continuously after a few minutes
- Once the milk expands to a few inches from the top and is hot, take off the heat
- Pump until you see very soft peaks at the top
Warning: The instructions say to shake. However, you do not shake the frother. You pump the handle.
A cappuccino is traditionally served in a porcelain cup, which has far better heat-retention characteristics than glass or paper.
How To Make Cafe Latte With the Moka?
